The superstitius practice of recording hourly increments
Introduction
The ordained task the congregation with maintaining weekly parchments recording adherence to various sermons in something referred to as hours. The follower shall strictly devote prayers to certain gods and note how many hours they devoted to each god.
How to approach “hours”
The enlightened realise that what is referred to as hours are simply an arbitrary unit and bares no resemblence to what is commonly understood as a unit of time. When reading a parchment from a member of the congregation, a common observer may see that what is recorded as an hour matches what is considered an hour in the common vernacular.
When a follower reaches enlightened status, they realise that the parchment denotes a unit of measurement which is only relevant to the processor of the parchement. The processor of the parchment needs what is recorded to follow a certain pre-determined allocation of devotion to certain gods. The parchment denotes “hours” that translate to an allocation of the collect to various congregation initiatives. What is less important is how many prayers are devoted to the gods, only what is recorded.
The unit is arbitrary
In order for the enlightened to pass as a devoted follower, they may simply think of the unit to record as “RoD” - record of devotion, because it is the only thing relevant to the ordained.
